ResinTech SBG1P-OH-ID is a Type I strongly basic anion exchange resin with color indicating dye, providing visual confirmation when the resin is exhausted. The resin is supplied in the free base form and is used for water demineralization when used in conjunction with a strongly acidic cation exchange resin in a mixed bed or dual bed configuration

  • NOTE1: All Type I strongly basic anion exchange resins in hydroxide (free base) form have a characteristic odor. The odor is due to low concentration of amines generated from contacting the resin with strong base during the manufacturing process. Amines are positively charged and easily removed by strongly acidic cation exchange resins. To remove formed amines, mix the SBG1P-OH-ID 50% by volume with a cation exchange resin (mixed bed configuration), install an equal volume cation exchange resin filter after a SBG1P-OH-ID filter (dual bed filter configuration), and follow the SBG1P-OH-ID filter with a mixed bed polishing filter (polishing filter configuration). Immediately upon contacting the cation exchange resin, odor from formed amines are eliminated. If the resin is used for drinking water or salt water/reef aquariums, we recommend following SBG1P-OH-ID with a strongly acidic cation exchange resin in one of the aforementioned configurations.

NOTE2: Strong base anion exchange resins in free base form readily adsorb carbon dioxide from the air, converting the free base to bicarbonate and reducing resin capacity. Seal the resin package tightly when not in use. Expel excess air from the package before sealing.

ResinTech SBG1P-OH-ID is a Type I strongly basic anion exchange resin with color indicating dye, providing visual confirmation when the resin is exhausted. The resin is supplied in the free base form and is used for water demineralization when used in conjunction with a strongly acidic cation exchange resin in a mixed bed or dual bed configuration. ResinTech SBG1P-OH-ID is the anionic resin used in the manufacture of ResinTech MBD-30 mixed bed ion exchange resin.  Ideal for use in mixed bed or dual bed ion exchange filters where ultrapure water purity is desired (0 ppm TDS, 16-18 MOhm-cm), such as demineralized water for saltwater and reef aquariums, drinking water, and humidifiers.

Create custom resin blends to optimize water quality to your specific needs or operate in dual bed configuration, using our complementary ResinTech CG8-H-ID strongly acidic cation exchange resin with indicator dye. Dual bed filters, with indicating dyes for both anion and cation exchange resin, permit visual indication of exhaustion of both resins. Mixed bed filters use an indicator dye for one resin component only, do not provide a true indication of resin exhaustion, and are inefficient. A dual bed filter, by comparison, permits full utilization of both anion and cation exchange resins, improving filter efficiency, and reducing ion exchange resin replacement. When operating in dual bed configuration, we recommend installing the SBG1P-OH-ID before CG8-H-ID to capture amines generated from the anion exchange resin.

ResinTech SBG1P-OH-ID is a dyed hydroxide form type 1 gel strong base anion resin. SBG1P-OH-ID is dyed with a permanent blue dye that changes from deep blue to amber as the resin exhausts. ResinTech SBG1P-OH-ID is intended for use anywhere that a visual indication of resin exhaustion is desired. SBG1P-OH-ID is supplied in the hydroxide form.
